Windsor Park has several schools throughout the community. They include the preschool, elementary school and the after-school program facility. Near the schools there is the local park that holds a few interesting facilities, including an outdoor skating rink. There is one building that holds a few small shops for the local patrons. This location also has a few lofts available within the building.
The greatest benefit to the residents of Windsor Park is its location. Having easy access to roadways and the LRT, light rail transit system, residents can take advantage all the different parts of the Edmonton with ease and comfort.
Within Windsor Park there is not much to offer for local amenities. The residents must travel but, the travel is not so far that a short walk cannot solve. Groat Road leads residents into the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Here they can enjoy Hawrelak Park and Emily Murphy Park, both located in the river valley immediately South, or below the neighborhood. By traveling Groat Road and/or Groat Bridge residents gain access to all the destinations on the north side of Windsor Park, including Downtown Edmonton, Westmount Centre and Telus World of Science, all located in Edmonton.
If night life and dinning is of interest, both University Avenue and 87th Avenue can take the local patrons to Whyte Avenue located in Old Strathcona, Edmonton. This location offers a large variety of exciting entertainment, including live music, dancing, theaters, cinemas, celebrations, coffee shops and fine, fun dinning.
The main artery south from the university area is 114th Street. This route gives access to Southgate Centre. Whitemud Drive allows residents another way to reach the North side, while also allowing great access to West Edmonton Mall.
Windsor Park is not much more than homes. It is not a thriving business district. It is not a flashy, entertainment zone. It does not boast with frivol and glam. It is a place to call home. The location of Windsor Park is the key to a full healthy lifestyle. The residents can travel in any one direction and obtain anything that they might need or desire.
