Wedgewood Heights is a neighborhood located in West Edmonton. This neighborhood is irregularly shaped and makes for interesting travel and site seeing. The roads in Wedgewood Heights are named after well-known people from Edmonton, known as Edmontonians. They have named the streets to honor these famous people.
The residential development took place in the 1960s and 1970s. The development however was limited which kept the community small until further development took place after 1985. One in five residences got built from 1986 through 1990 with about three out of four homes being built during the 1990s. The majority of the homes built between 1960 and 1990 were single family dwellings. The majority of them are occupied by their owners with very few being available as rental properties.
Anthony Henday Drive borders the west part of Wedgewood Heights while the North Saskatchewan River valley is to the south east. This neighborhood is near the ravine. Lessard Road borders its northwest area with 194 Street bordering the northeast.
The Edmonton International Airport is nearby making travel for business or pleasure easily accessible by Wedgewood Heights’ residents. It is also near downtown Edmonton with all the benefits a larger city provides its suburbs. There are numerous restaurants, shopping malls, hospitals and universities in the area to add to the overall experience.
