Rapperswill is a small neighbourhood located in the northern section of the Castledowns community in the north-western quadrant of Edmonton. It was officially adopted into the community in 2010. Like many of the neighbourhoods that make up Castledowns, Rapperswill is named after a European castle, Switzerland's "Rapperswil Castle." The majority of the neighbourhood consists of detached homes, ideally suited for families.
Sitting on the very edge of civilization, Rapperswill is an ideal location for nature lovers, with two ponds and rolling fields and woodlands covering the northern edge of the neighbourhood. Rapperswill is within biking and walking distance of many of the amenities available to Castledowns residents. Outdoor facilities like walking trails and parks are only a few blocks away.
Grocery stores, restaurants, banking institutions, medical care centres, shopping plazas and boutiques, ice rinks, swimming facilities, and the Castledowns branch of the Edmonton Library are also nearby. While Rapperswill doesn't have any schools dedicated to the neighbourhood, there are several schools at the elementary and secondary school levels that offer options for families who are looking for French immersion, public schools, or Catholic institutions. Many of the facilities surrounding Rapperswill are relatively new installations, with some being as young as the neighbourhood itself.
House hunters that are looking to be a part of the shaping and moulding process of a newly established community will find their dreams realized in Rapperswill. Surrounded by nature and the latest in the facilities, Rapperswill is the perfect place for a growing family to lay down roots.
