The southeast portion of Oliver is named Grandin. Oliver offers many residents an ideal home. As soon as one enters into the community of Oliver one is comfortable. There is a nature trail along the river bank. Recently, redevelopers finished Oliver Square. Oliver Square offers shopping centers, lofts, and apartments from old converted warehouses. It has a cutting edge feel.

Since, Oliver is situated by the University of Alberta and MacEwan College campus; it is an ideal place to rent an apartment. Oliver is a perfect neighborhood for young adults and families. One does not only have all the luxuries of higher education close by, they also have the whole Downtown core. A resident of Oliver can easily enjoy the café scene, an art gallery, or a fine restaurant without any long travel. However, you do not always have to leave Oliver for shopping purposes.

This residential community is also known for its commercial development. Besides Oliver Square there a several long strip-malls, which can accommodate almost all needs. Another highlight is the fact Jasper Avenue intersects with Oliver’s shops – making the whole area friendly for dining and entertainment. Jasper Avenue is known for entertainment and general place to have a nice dinner or cup of coffee. The meeting of these two places is a great thing.

Since, Oliver is older parts of Edmonton there are many places to join a religious affiliation. A devoted resident does not need to travel to reach several types of Christian denominations or a Synagogue.

As one can see there are many benefits to live in Oliver. First, it has a historic charm, since it is one of the oldest residential communities. Second, it borders a beautiful river that also has a trail so outdoorsmen or women can enjoy the scene. Thirdly, Oliver is literally next to the downtown core of Edmonton, making the “city scene” very available. Fourthly, there are two major institutions of higher education located very close to Oliver. And lastly, Oliver has had some major redeveloping take place. There are shops and restaurants, plus Oliver Square meets up with Jasper Avenue – making it a perfect area to have a night out on the town.
