Kirkness is a residential neighbourhood within the Clareview area of Northeast Edmonton, Alberta. The area was originally built in the 1970s with a few residences being constructed. Most the area was further developed during the 1980s and completed during the 1990's
Most of the properties are single family dwellings and account for more than half of all the houses. A quarter are rented apartments and the rest of the dwellings are duplexes or row houses. The majority of properties in this area are owner occupied.
This neighbourhood has a mobile population with 12% of people arriving within the previous year. A quarter of residents have moved in within the past three years.
The designated schools in the area are Kirkness Elementary, John D Bracco Junior High and Eastglen and MELaZerte Senior High Schools. Junior and Senior High School transportation is subsidized by the ETS.
Kirkness has the Canadian National Railway nearby and is bounded on the east by the Victoria Trail. Manning Drive provides access to destinations in the north east of Edmonton.
