Overlooking the North Saskatchewan River valley in Northeast Edmonton is the residential neighborhood of Highlands. Roughly 1/3 of the Highlands were built prior to the end of WWII, and about 1/2 of the neighborhood was built between 1946 and 1960.
A majority of the homes in the Highlands are single family homes, which actually account for 90% of the neighborhood. There are also a few apartment buildings in the neighborhood that are low rise buildings.
Over 80% of the Highlands are owner occupied with only a few rentals occupied by tenants. This neighborhood has shown great popularity and new residents have been moving in, while it seems the average homeowner here has been in the Highlands for an average of 5 years.

There are two school systems in the Highlands both operated by the Edmonton Public School System, they are Highlands Public School and Mount Royal Elementary School
The Highlands leaves little to be wanted with something for everyone. From nearby river access to close in fine dining experiences, to Rexall Place just a short drive west, the Highlands has it all.
