Dunluce is a residential neighbourhood located in the Castledowns area just north of Downtown Edmonton. The Castledowns Recreation Centre is located at the south east corner of the neighborhood. It provides many recreational activities for people of the community including skating, soccer & hockey.
The neighborhood is named for a castle in Northern Ireland. Bizarrley, this is could be a Scottish influence. Many parts of Edmonton are named for places in Scotland and Dunluce Castle, although in Northern Ireland could be one of these.
Most of the residential construction in the Dunluce occurred during the 1970s and early 1980s. Approximately half of the residences are single family dwellings; large houses surrounded by their own plot of land. There are two schools in the neighbourhood: Dunluce Elementary School operated by the Edmonton Public School System and St. Lucy Catholic Elementary School operated by the Edmonton Catholic School System.
