In order to differentiate West Jasper Place from Jasper Place, just stay within the area West of 149th Street, North of 95th Street, East of 156th Street and South of Stony Plain Road. If traveling via the Edmonton Transit System the destination will be West Jasper Place or West Edmonton Mall.

The history of West Jasper Place goes beyond the time of World War II. This area shows elegance and history in one serving of class and style. There were not many homes established in West Jasper Place until after the War. At this time there was a massive explosion of homes going up and residents moving in. It was not until after the 1980’s that construction started to slow down. They are still growing and still thriving with rich entertainment, shopping and life.

The people of West Jasper Place are mobile, meaning they usually rent their home and move every so often. This is a common trend for this area and community. There are more single family dwellings then there are apartments in the neighborhood. However, if interested there are condominiums, apartments, row houses and other unique homes available in this area of Edmonton.

West Jasper Place does not hold many local schools. There is only one school located within the neighborhood, Sherwood Elementary. It is operated and funded by the Edmonton Public School System. The Centre for the Arts Campus, formerly known as Jasper Place Campus of MacEwan University is just off the Northwest corner of the neighborhood. The beautiful Arthur Elliot Park is the only park within the borders of West jasper Place. Bike trails that were designed through the McKinnon Ravine in Crestwood provide the residents access to the city’s river valley park system. This is a truly beautiful system that runs through different areas of the surrounding residential neighborhoods.
