The neighborhood of Tweddle is located in the Mill Woods area of Edmonton and is part of the Millbourne community which is in the same area. The neighborhood is named after Malcolm Tweddle who was a former city commissioner.
The neighborhood is bounded on the north by Whitemud Drive, on the west by 91 Street, on the east by 76 Street, and on the south by Mill Woods Road and by 38 Avenue. Millbourne Road West cuts through the neighborhood.
Millgate Transit Centre which is part of the Edmonton Transit system is located just slightly to the north of the neighborhood. Most of the construction took place in Tweddle in the 1970's when about 82% of the residences in the neighborhood were built. By 1990 all of the construction had been completed and was ready for people to move in.
If you take a look at the makeup of the people who live in Tweddle you will find that over 50% of them are living in single family dwellings, while another 28% are living in low rise apartment buildings consisting of five or less floors. 41% of the residences in Tweddle are rented while 59% are owner occupied.
There are four schools located in the neighborhood. The Edmonton Public School System operates the Malcolm Tweddle Elementary School and the Edith Rogers Junior High School. The Edmonton Catholic School System operates the St. Hilda Junior High School. There is also an independent school, the Millwoods Christian School, located in the neighborhood.
The surrounding neiborhoods include; Richfield, Lee Ridge and Michaels Park.
