The city of Spruce Grove in located in vicinity of Edmonton, Alberta, it’s one of the many cities that’s surrounded by Parkland County. It has a population of approximately 23,326 and is the 11th largest city in all of Alberta. There are two highways which pass through this city, Highway 16 and 16A. The former doesn’t have any traffic lights but Spruce Grove can be access through two exits. On the other hand, Highway 16A has a number of traffic intersections. If you travel east on any of these highways, it would lead you right into the capital city of Edmonton; however, if you’re due west, than you’ll be lead into Stony Plain.

Spruce Grove is known to have produced professional athletes that are well-accomplished many of them in the National Hockey League, such as Stu Barnes, Nathan Dempsey and Grant Fuhr. The city also takes claim of an Olympic gold medalist in Jennifer Heil as a mogul’s skier. Many of these accomplished athletes took advantage of the recreational facilities made available to the public especially the Trans-Alta Tri Leisure Centre which provides swimming pools, soccer fields, a gymnasium and an ice rink that many professional hockey players learn to skate.
The recreation facilities also include bike trails such as the Heritage Grove Trail, where bike riders can ride until days end through fertile forests. The West District Park held its grand opening in Spruce Grove on June 7th 2008 and it featured two complete artificial turf fields for football and soccer; however, other activities are welcomed as well on these amazing fields. It has since been renamed in honor of Bruce and Jeannette Fuhr, family members of late great Fuhr’s who farmed the land, to the Fuhr Sports Park.
Spruce Grove is considered one of the greatest places to live in all of Alberta for a number of reasons, none more prevalent then a nucleus of people who are accustom to living freely and raising families. The city is only 11 kilometers west of Edmonton where one can enjoy quality service in many places including the shopping centers, recreation and culture facilities. Spruce Grove also has its annual Spruce Up Spruce Grove Community Clean Up fundraiser which allows community members the opportunity to keep the community clean. This event is designed for local, non-profit organizations can earn around $1500 for helping to keep the community clean.
Spruce Grove is also considered one of the safest cities in all of Alberta thanks to the city of Spruce Grove Safe City Initiative which promotes personal and community safety through educational and awareness programs. It’s designed to link residents, businesses, service clubs and community groups with protective services and community programs for the purpose of sharing ideas, tools, tips and best practices to keep a safe and productive community. This includes anything from crime, drug and alcohol prevention programs to safe and adequate housing making it one of the most sought after places for living in all of Alberta Canada
