Named after Chief Skyrattler of the Winterburn band, and located in Southwest Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is the residential neighborhood of Skyrattler. Skyrattler is a relatively newer neighborhood by Edmonton standards with homes being constructed between 1960 and 1990. More than half of the neighborhood was built in the 1980's. Most of the homes in Skyrattler are row houses and apartment complexes, though there are a few single family style homes as well.
Around 50% of the homes in the neighborhood are rented and the other half are owner occupied. This is a good mix and provides for different lifestyles, from traditional home ownership, to lower maintenance rental options.
There is always continued interest in Skyrattler, and new people are moving in frequently. Rentals are typically available, as only about 40% of the renting residents have lived in their home for 5 years or longer. With low maintenance housing available these homes tend to go rather quickly. For the portion of residents who have lived here for some tenure, they realize a good thing when they see it. So they have elected to make Skyrattler a more long term choice in residency.
