Sherwood Park is a rural community located on the southeast side of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. The city was first established around 1954/55 on a farmland east of Edmonton called Smeltzer. In 2008, it boasted a population of roughly 59,409 residents which makes the 7th largest city in Alberta. Sherwood Park is viewed as somewhat of hamlet or rural community; however, the government of Alberta identifies the Sherwood Park Urban Service area the same as any other city.

The city of Sherwood Park has a flourishing economy with roughly over $9.0 billion of major projects fulfilled, made known to the public and currently under construction.
