Located just east of the downtown core in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Riverdale is neighborhood in the river valley. Riverdale is border along the east and south by the North Saskatchewan River. Across the river to the south in the Edmonton river valley area is the neighborhood of Cloverdale. Approaching the Low Level Bridge in the river valley neighborhood is Rossdale. The Boyle Street neighborhood is located just to the north. The boundary of Riverdale to downtown area runs along Grierson Hill Road.
Riverdale has one school located in the neighborhood west of the Dawson Bridge; the Riverdale School, which is historical landmark in the community and offers classes for grades K through 6. The Riverdale School curriculum focuses on offering a balance of academic, physical, social, and cultural studies as well as science, mathematics, language arts, and social studies making up the core of the curriculum.
Within the neighborhood are many beautiful parks; among these are Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, Dawson Park, the Allan Stein Park, and Louise McKinney Park. These offer ample opportunities for outdoor recreation and family outings. Riverdale is a history rich, family oriented city, who many residents have had relatives in the area since before the mid nineteen forties. Many homes were built in the neighborhood within the following forty years.
