He was educated in Ontario and was admitted to the bar in 1899. He went on to practise law with A.C. Rutherford, who was the first premier of Alberta. He served in two wars, the Boer War and World War I and then went on to serve in the Alberta legislature. He retired in 1962. It is a time-honoured tradition that important figures should be commemorated in this way and one which should certainly continue. These great people have contributed much to the development of the country and need to be remembered like this.

The neighbourhood of Jamieson Place is bounded on the west by Anthony Henday Drive, on the north by Callingwood Road, on the east by 184 Street, and on the south be Lessard Road. The Anthony Henday provides access to destinations to the south of the city including the Edmonton International Airport. Up until 2007 it was noted that more than 60% of this neighbourhood is still undeveloped. There is much scope for expansion of this desirable neighbourhood. There are current plans to construct a large office development in this area which should be completed by 2010. This is not be confused with the 38 storey skyscraper in Calgary, which is co-incidentally also called Jamieson Place and is part of Calgary’s plus 15 skyway system which has over 16 kilometres of walkways connecting some of it major buildings.

The most common type of residence in the neighbourhood, according to the 2005 municipal census, is the single family dwelling. These accounted for nine out of ten of the residences in the neighbourhood. The remaining residences are mostly duplexes along with a couple of row houses. Virtually all of the residences were owner occupied with only 3% being rented. There is a single school in the neighbourhood, Michael A. Kostek School, operated by the Edmonton Public School System.
