Callingwood is bounded on the west by 178 Street, on the east by 170 Street, on the north by Whitemud Drive, and on the south by Callingwood Road. Callingwood South is the portion south of 69 Avenue. Whitemud Drive provides good access to destinations on the south side, including the University of Alberta, Fort Edmonton Park, and the Southgate Centre shopping mall. West Edmonton Mall is located a short distance to the north.

Almost a quarter of all the residences in Callingwood South are apartments in high rise buildings with five or more stories. While three quarters of all residences are actual apartments of any sort. Nearly three quarters of al residences in Callingwood South are rented. It is highly likely that this is because of the high degree of movemnt of the population. This may be because of seasonal casual workers who move into the area to work in the nearby West Edmonton Mall, which is the largest Mall in Canada. And, it may be because of students and academics either visitng or working at the University of Alberta. Both of which are within easy commuting distance of Callingwood South.
There are three schools in Callingwood South. The Our Lady of the Prairies Catholic Elementary School is operated by the Edmonton Catholic School System. The Talmud Torah Elementary Junior High School is a Jewish school operated by the Talmud Torah Society in partnership with the Edmonton Public School System that provides "an integrated program of Judaic and Secular studies in a Hebrew Bilingual setting focused on excellence in learning and achievement. The third school is the Sylvan Learning Centre West.
If West Edmonton Mall is a little too large to visit, Callingwood also has its own local shopping centre which is called The Marketplace. This is a family friendly outdoor shopping centre which is located on the conrer of 178 Street and 69 Avenue in Edmonton. But even this mall is not so small. There are 75 shops and services in this area. This also contains many other services such as wellness centres, estate agencies and law firms. This area also houses a large farmer’s market. This operates seasonally and can be found here between May and October.
