If you are looking for a central location, then consider the quaint community of Bonnie Doon, known as the heart of the Franco-Albertan community. It is an older neighborhood and was originally part of the City of Strathcona. This area of Edmonton merged with the city of Edmonton in 1912.
You will find adorable homes and condos in this well-kept area.
This quiet community is bordered by the Saskatchewan River Valley, Whyte Avenue, Mill Creek Ravine and Connors Road. There are other areas to buy Edmonton houses, but you will want to consider this neighborhood for its proximity to schools. Nearby schools to Edmonton homes for sale include Rutherford Elementary School, Maurice- Lavallée, and École Gabrielle-Roy. The only Francophone University west of Manitoba, the University of Alberta’s Faculté Saint-Jean, is in the community of Bonnie Doon.
A very popular shopping mall is the Bonnie Doon Shopping center, which also happens to be one of Edmonton’s first shopping malls and is an added value when looking at Edmonton houses. Another attraction when looking at Edmonton homes is the Campus Saint Jean, a part of the University of Alberta. It's known for its cultural events, athletics and dance classes.
